The lock has a thickness of about 0.8 inches. To change the password, you just need to open the password lock and with the button inward, scroll the password wheel to set the password. It comes with screws in the package, but if you need rivets, you can contact the seller. Based on customer feedback, this product is an affordable, easy-to-use solution to replace broken latches on briefcases, tool boxes, or wooden boxes. However, some customers have reported that the screws that come with the product are flimsy and recommend rivets as a better alternative. The metal on the new latches/hasps is not as thick as some customers' old ones, and the upper (spring-loaded) part is not quite as wide either. Additionally, some customers have reported that the product is not suitable for large or expensive items such as Samsonite bags, lacking security and quality.
