The Kershaw XL Cryo II Pocket Knife is a highly regarded and versatile everyday carry knife. It is the smaller counterpart to the Cryo1 and is Considered the more useful and nicer knife of the two. Both models are of high quality and are durable enough to last for generations. The knife is made in China, despite the product page claiming it is made in the USA. However, users attest that the quality is still on par with Kershaw's USA-made products. The blade of the knife is made with 8Cr13MoV steel, which is a softer steel but holds an edge very well. Users have tested the knife on various materials such as light cardboard, thick plastic, and aluminum soda cans, and it remained sharp enough to shave hair on the arm. The steel is relatively easy to sharpen, taking only around 10 minutes with a strop and fine abrasive paste. The knife comes sharp right out of the box and can easily cut through cardboard. However, some users may have different standards of sharpness. Replacement pocket clips for the Cryo models are not readily available from Kershaw, but the company can replace a broken clip if sent back. Third-party replacement clips may be found through a search. Serrated edge versions of the Cryo are only available in black and grey with stainless steel handles. The sharpening angle of the knife is specified between 18 and 22 degrees, and Kershaw offers free lifetime sharpening.
